Did your small business local SEO campaign hit its first quarter goals?

The second quarter of 2015 just started for your business and you (should) want to know how well your local SEO campaign performed. Did you hit your Q1 goals? Has traffic to your website increased? How many new local business directory citations did you add? How many new reviews did you gather? These are just some of the questions you should be asking.

A great tool to measure your website’s traffic performance is the Google Analytics suite. Here are easy 5 steps to measure your website performance through your analytics reports.

  1. Review your overall traffic numbers from January 1st, 2015 through March 31st, 2015. How does it compare to this time last year? What about the last quarter of 2014?

  2. If you have a shopping cart and have an ecommerce business, how has your conversion rate fared?

  3. Review your mobile traffic. If your site is not mobile-ready expect a decrease in mobile traffic from April 21st onward.

  4. Are most of your website visitors new or returning?

  5. Review your referral traffic – what external sites are driving traffic to your local business website?

SearchEngineLand.com goes on in more detail on this subject and has screenshots to help guide you through your Google Analytics dashboard and how to answer these questions I just posed.
